    Excelsior Palace построен в 1901 году и известен всему миру с момента основания: на его территории было открыто первое казино в Италии. И хотя в 1928 году казино переехало в Сан Ремо, Exelsior Palace не утратил своей популярности у представителей богемы и высшего общества. Здесь останавливались Эрнест Хемингуэй, король Иордании Хуссейн, актриса Элеонора Дузе и другие знаменитости. С 1974 до 1995 года отель был закрыт. За зданием никто не следил, шикарные сады и парки были заброшены. Пришлось провести полную реконструкцию отеля.
