I have just returned from this hotel and things are nearly complete. For anyone going in 2 weeks time it will be great - unlike my 2 weeks when the hotel should not have even opened!
The pool bar is finally up and running - it opened on the 13th day of our holiday! The animation team have started arriving although they still had no equipment when I left yesterday. The owner was apparently buying things this week. And the gym finally opened on the last day of our holiday although the CD player doesn't work.
You will need deposits for TV remote controls, beach towels, internet cables if you want them, which in total was 50 euro's. They do not have a facility for getting clean beach towels though.
All the rooms are now completed - unlike when i arrived when workmen were still there! They had a bull dozer on the beach when i left so hopefully all the crap will have gone-not so nice for current guests sunbathing thou!
I would like to point out I meant 7 themed nights not 7 different restaurants! We finally had 2 cretan themed nights by the time we left. George the chef was great considering he had limited resources to start with due to the hotel owner running low on money. But 2 days ago the Cretotel managment came to sort the place out due to ALL the guests complaining not just me!
You can hire a car, catch the bus or the yellow train to various places, it depends what you want to do and see! I would not advise driving if you scare easily but it is cheaper to see lots of sights this way than go on trips.
There are a few shops scattered around - mini supermarkets etc. A couple of taverna's but I never saw anyone at them.
Things to be careful of are the slope by the pools which is lethal when wet. I saw at least 2 people fall over badly. There is also no hand rails on a number of stairs but there is a lift to all floors.
Hope this all helps and you all have a great holiday!
