I have been traveling to Thailand for the second time and have seen lots of hotels & hostels all over the country to compare with Sugar Marina Surf. My overall impression about this hotel was "excellent", because I was really surprised to see SUCH kind of service in a 3* hotel! in Thailand, which I barely could find in several 4* hotels in Europe!

Firstly, the personnel is very friendly, client-oriented and always willing to help. We had a night flight and arrived to the hotel at about 7 am and were supposed to wait for check-in until 2 pm, but the staff arranged our room before 11 am, that was very kind of them. Next, there were several situations which required interaction with hotel personnel (request of breakfasts in boxes, request of additional room key, etc), and during which I always received a smile, a brief explanation and quick solution of my issue. The cleaning was also professional and at the same tactful, we always found our belongings exactly where we left them before the room service.

Secondly, the breakfast were tasty and included both standard food (toasts, corn flakes, eggs, sausages, etc) and fresh juice, fresh fruits, Thai desserts and many others. The variety of food remained almost unchanged during the week, but this was not a problem at all. Also, a few times we had a dinner with pizza, spaghetti and Caesar salads - everything was delicious and even cheaper then in external restaurants.

Thirdly, the location was good too: we had access to Kata beach in 5 min walk, also behind the hotel there was a Thai mart which worked about 3 times a week, where you can buy all sorts of fresh and dried fruits, bags, souvenirs, T-shirts, etc.

Finally, the territory is very small, bu includes a pool with relatively cold water, which was very handy when it rains/winds to much and you do not want to go to the beach.

Summarizing all the above, I was very surprised with the hotel since I could not imagine such nice combination of location/service/rooms in Thailand (:
